BH Statistics
December 9, 1999
Here are the population statistics for the SD Voter data base. The purpose of this activity is to investigate how large our samples must be in order to generate reliable information about the population. To judge this, we will see how far from the population statistics our sample statistics tend to be over the long run.
Generate 5 random samples of a given size (Luis will tell you what size to make your samples).
Create a substitute socket and use it to have Data Desk generate tables for each sample (as demonstrated in the video). Record the statistics for each sample in the blank tables that are attached to this sheet.
Work quickly so that you can share the information you gather with the rest of the class.
